What Can CBD DO...

The possibilities are endless

The use of cannabis, or marijuana, for medical benefits remains a politically charged issue across the United States. The benefits of cannabis are becoming better know and excepted as awareness of the benefits of the cannabis plant grows.

The dangers of abuse of marijuana lead to a ban on the product back in the 1930's even though the health benefits had been well known by its users.

More recently the attention has been brought back to cannabis and the benefits it can provide a large range of populations and conditions.

There are over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids. The two most well-known compounds are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). Many of the other compounds remain largely unstudied and leave a lot to be discovered still yet.

THC is known for its psychoactive and mind-altering effects in users. There are also benefits beyond the 'high' provided by THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol also carries the medicinal benefits of an effective antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-tremor, anti-inflammatory and appetite stimulate. The use of marijuana or cannabis was jaded because of the often undesired mind-altering effects and the potential for abuse or addiction by its users.

CBD being the other largely researched and understood compound in the cannabis plant offers many medicinal benefits without the psychoactive effects, making this a very desirable compound. Cannabidiol can be used as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, antioxidant and for its neuroprotective and immunomodulatory effects.

With shifts in the legalization of THC and demand for legal CBD products, farmers have cultivated crops and strains of cannabis that yield plants high in CBD and low in THC. THC remains a controlled, or even illegal, substance with legalization still being sought in some states, while CBD is largely available for legal purchase in all 50 states.

With this said, not all CBD products are created equal. Using a reputable company that creates products from 'certified' farmers in the United States in the best way to start, if you are interested in CBD products.

Research has been done for years to document the benefits of CBD oil, as well as its psychoactive counterpart, THC. While THC remains a controlled and/or illegal substance in many states, CBD is largely available for legal purchase in all 50 states.

There are many proven benefits of CBD. The most basic benefits are its anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, anxiolytic and antipsychotic characteristics. With these characteristics, it is widely used as a potential treatment for any disease resulting from inflammation, neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting, nausea, anxiety, and schizophrenia.

At the top of the list of benefits of CDB is natural pain relief. Cannabidiol has anti-inflammatory effects that can help reduce pain modulation by inhibiting the nerve transmission in pain pathways. It is also believed that CBD can help to ease neuropathic or nerve pain as well.

Anxiety is something a lot of people experience and CBD has been shown to help in reducing anxiety in users with social anxiety as well as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CBD has also been used in a study to pretreat participants with fear public speaking. The CBD participants were shown to display less anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort during their speech performances.

CBD has been used to treat nausea and vomiting for centuries. With conditions where such side effects are experienced, it has shown to be effective in helping to ease the severity and discomfort of these side effects for these patients due to its diphasic manner. This means that in low doses it helps to suppress toxin-induced vomiting.

Many of us have also seen the videos or have heard the claims of the calming effects of CBD on epilepsy, seizures or other neurological disorders. Studies have been conducted that evaluate the benefits of CBD-products on childhood epilepsy and almost all patients showed some reduction in the frequency and duration of related seizures. Other beneficial effects were also noticed in way of increased alertness, better mood, and improved sleep. Side effects were noted as fatigue and drowsiness.

It has also been said that CBD can have a positive effect on cancer patients and even slow the growth of cancer cells.
